Toko's animation canvas at the prestigious 2009 MTV Music Awards Show, consisted of an immersive stage environment designed by Lava Architects. The ambitious structure uses 700 sqm surface area of white lycra, weighs only 80 kgs and can be packed up into a suitcase.

We created dozens of short looped animations, taylor-made to each band. Our mainly analogue design approach (stop motion) felt right in contrast to the 3D and slick animation environment seen so much. 

Throughout the event, animations were screened on this highly unusual set, collaborating with the odd shape of the structure and music. An all immersing audio and visual environment featuring live performances of The Killers, Jessica Mauboy, Vanilla ICE and SIA, screening to over 500 million homes across the world.
