Description

Melonie Bayl-Smith approached Toko to develop the new logo and identity for
her renamed practise 'Bijl' (formerly known as 'Liquid Architecture').

Bijl, a Dutch name by origin meaning 'axe', was changed to Bayl at emigrations back in the days.
On an abstract level the 'Bijl' word mark developed, plays with the Dutch meaning of 'Bijl', using chopped off typographic elements, creating a sense of playfulness and dynamic. The secondary part of the identity consist of tree trunk cross sections. This abstracted and organic visual language is implemented with foil print across the Bijl stationery.
